Religious Education (R.E)

Religious Education (RE)

Religious Education (RE) holds an important place in our school’s curriculum. It teaches children to respect the beliefs and diversity around them. The children are encouraged to explore and examine a range of different religions, learning from them and about them.

Children will develop key skills, including

·         communication,

·         application of number,

·         ICT,

·         collaboration,

·         reflecting on own learning and performance, and

·         problem solving.

Lessons are taught as either stand-alone lessons or as part of a cross-curricular approach to learning. We endeavour to take the children on trips to religious buildings, making learning purposeful and experiential. We also encourage visitors in to school to talk to the children about different faiths and beliefs. We are lucky enough to have close links with the local church and community. RE is also a significant aspect of our school and class assemblies, working towards enriching this subject in our school.

Our RE curriculum is delivered in accordance with the North Tyneside Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. It contributes to the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of our children, as well as our school ethos.
