Religious Education (R.E)

We are currently working towards the Religious Education Quality Mark, at Hadrian Park.

RE is an important part of the school curriculum and is taught relevant to the pupil’s stage of development and experience. We seek to provide a clearer idea of what religion is about, the importance that it plays in many people’s lives and how that faith is expressed in their daily lives and routines. We are inclusive of all religions and beliefs, considering the school and local community.

Christianity is taught across the school, with a whole school progressive approach to Christmas and Easter celebrations.

Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, our local community and religious diversity are other aspects of our enriched curriculum.
Throughout these lessons, children will develop key skills, including:

  • Debate and discussion
  • Acceptance
  • Understanding and respect of differences
  • Personal reflection
  • Drama
  • Making comparisons

We endeavour to take the children on trips to religious buildings, making learning purposeful and experiential. We also encourage visitors into school to talk to the children about different faiths and beliefs. We are lucky enough to have close links with the local church and community. RE is also a significant aspect of our school and class assemblies, working towards enriching this subject within our school.

Our RE curriculum is delivered in accordance with the 2020 North Tyneside Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. It contributes to the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of our children, as well as our school ethos.
