Times Table Rockstars!
At Hadrian Park we use Times Table Rockstars to develop a love for times tables and pupils' knowledge of multiplication and division facts for all pupils from Y2-Y6 (Y1 following the introduction of repeated addition).
Times tables are recognised as essential to access many mathematical concepts – the more facts pupils remember, the easier it is for them to do more challenging calculations.
Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help pupils master the times tables, using both speed and accuracy. Children have to work as quickly as they can to answer as many multiplication and division facts as they can in a set time. This both earns the children coins and improves their "studio speed".
We use Times Tables Rockstars daily in class, battling our friends, challenging our teachers and trying to improve our personal best studio speed. Each week hold a times tables celebration assembly and we award children based on their effort and improvement, as well as crowning our weekly "Rockstar Champion" with a special trophy. We also host Times Table Rockstars celebration days which involve a whole school celebration of Maths and various battles across school. During these Rockstar Days we even encourage the children and staff to dress as rockstars for the day!
Children are also encouraged to play at home and have login codes to access Times Table Rockstars from home.
