Here at Hadrian Park Primary we love being a Read Write Inc school as it helps us to read fluently and develop a love of reading!
Read Write Inc (RWI) is a phonics programme which is carefully matched to the new curriculum, aimed at developing a love for reading and giving children the best chance of success!

In Read Write Inc phonics children learn that sounds and letters have a relationship. In other words, it is the link between what we say and what we can read and write. Phonics offers beginning readers the tools they need to sound out words. For example, we learn that the letter D has the sound of /d/ as in doll. Read Write Inc helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary, and spelling. It also allows children to spell effortlessly so that they can put all their energy into composing what they write. It is a method of learning focused on letter sounds and phonics that teaches children how to blend sounds together to read and write words and how to use these learnt sounds in their reading and writing.

Order of Story books: Children will hopefully follow the order listed below. The expectation is that all children will leave Year One as confident speedy readers, ready to take on the challenges of Year Two. However, some children may need extra support and your teacher will talk to you about this.
